The Digital Future

Three girls using smartphones

Digital marketing trends have remarkably changed over the last couple of years. Whilst years ago text content post and graph statistics were powerful influencing tools, today video content features more prominently along with the rise of  influencer marketing. To  improve and build off your social media engagement, and stay up-to-date with your digital marketing strategy here are our tips and  trends for  2019:

  1. Streaming Television

Streaming television is significantly increasing in  making an  impact on people buying televisions.  The Internet has  proven to be the most disruptive development, looming menacingly over profit stream. According to recent research internet usage will overtake  the TV in 2019  and will change the TV business forever. In 2019 viewers are expected to  easily stream HD sport programmes, drama serials, news, comedy shows etc on PC, laptop, tablet or even their smart-phone.

  1. Deep integration of Social medial into all services

Users  can already connect with any service on social media just by pressing the “Contact Us” buttons. These buttons are allowing the social media giants to connect with different services directly and keep an insight into the users’ behaviour outside of social media circles.

This trend is not only set to continue its growth but will increase exponentially allowing social media platforms to become even more integrated with other services. It is expected that in 2019, 90% of apps will start sharing user data from their audiences with social media giants to create a more seamless experience across third-party apps. Therefore, with more information available for the social media giants, they will be able to expand whilst offering complete and better services.

  1. Live videos and Social Video Story

Facebook, Instagram and YouTube introduced live video services in 2016. Today , the usage of live video services, is continuously evolving  and moreover, it is expected to drastically increase with 81% more users adopting it by the end of 2019 and beyond.

According to resent studies, live videos are more appealing to brand audiences because:

  • 80% of users would rather watch live video from a brand than read a blog article.
  • 82% of users would prefer live videos from social posts.
  • 87% of users would prefer to watch live video content versus traditional television.

Hence, the main brand focus is on creating and sharing video content. Consequently, by 2019 it is expected that 80% of all internet traffic  will be generated through video content. Furthermore, as the video content trend continues to grow with video ads, it is predicted that by 2019 over 65% of ad impressions on social media platforms will be as aresult of video content.  Therefore, it is crucial for marketeers to consider adding video adverts to  their 2019 social media strategy.

Furthermore, in 2019 marketeers should also be aware of the latest social media trends including:  Social Video Marketing, Geo-located video discovery and sharing, storytelling in micro-moments and the most recent addition, vertical video campaigns which are significantly on the rise.

  1. Chatbots

A chatbot is a computer program that automates certain tasks, usually by chatting with a user through a conversational interface. These days, Chatbots are most commonly used in the area of customer service,  where they are assuming roles traditionally performed by humans. Chatbots have quickly gained popularity amongst many businesses due to their benefits. These include:

  • Chatbots providing 24/7 availability to users, leading to a positive increase of the company’s response rate.
  • Chatbots processing large volumes of requests whilst saving time and costs.
  • Chatbits allowing companies to understand their users better leading to improved customer service.

Nowadays, the number of companies willing to implement Chatbots within their business is remarkably increasing. Therefore, by 2019 Chatbots are expected to be the first port of call for the majority of initial customer experiences.. Therefore, if you aren’t already considering one for your brand you should be!
