How long will it take to build my website?
“How long will it take to build my website”? It’s the question that web design companies get asked on a regular basis, a perfectly reasonable question but one that also holds a lot of uncertainty.
When it comes to designing and developing a website there are a number of factors that come into play which can affect your timeline. So to help you we’ve put together some of these factors that can have a big impact on your project’s launch date so that you can hopefully prepare for them and help to get your website delivered on time!
Scope
Generally the larger the project, the more time it will take to complete. And if you’ve got a site that needs a large amount of content, customisation (such as shopping carts) and development then it’s worth taking that into consideration when planning your project and factoring this in from the outset.
Content Availability
Getting a website up and running works both ways! It’s important that content and assets are either provided by the client or agreed with the agency how much content they will need to deliver.
Waiting for content and assets can have a major impact on time-frame delivery so it’s good practice to identify what you need at the start of your website journey and this will lead to a smoother transition.
Partnerships
It’s essential that the client/agency relationship is good from the outset. A bad one will undoubtedly lead to an endless stream of revisions and misunderstandings, whilst a good one can keep a project on the fast track to successful completion.
Good communication, developing a solid rapport and setting clear expectations are key to getting things done. Furthermore, setting clear objectives and expectations will make the project flow much easier
Working together and having great synergy will ensure that those timescales are met and your project is delivered on time and in budget.
Commitments
We’re all juggling other aspects of our job’s and sometimes the creation of a website can be one of the many things to do on your never-ending to-do list! However, it’s important that you invest the time in your website project and if you can specifically work on it or assign someone whose solid focus is on delivery then you give your project a better chance of delivering on time.
Project Timeline
It’s essential that from the beginning we find out the client’s wants and needs. If we can uncover as much as possible we’ll avoid surprises later on. Likewise it’s essential that we set out our expectations, creating a full project methodology, sticking to deadlines, reaching milestones and delivering a website that is functional. Informative, inspirational and one that you’re immensely proud of!

Content Marketing otherwise known as non-interruption marketing is essentially creating valuable, relevant and consistent content for your consumers that will engage and create awareness about your brand.
Content marketing is really like a first date. If all you do is talk about yourself, there won’t be a second date.
