How to get your customers to fall in love with your brand

Love sign

Getting customers to fall in love with your brand is vital to growing any business. Walt Disney said it best, “Do what you do so well that they will want to see it again and bring their friends.” By creating love between your business and your customers you can create positive word of mouth that will in essence help to increase your brand awareness and brand loyalty - ultimately leading to more sales. Plus, a 5% increase in customer retention can boost profits by up to 95%.

You probably know yourself how a certain brand makes you feel. When you wear a certain item of clothing you may feel empowered, whether it’s wearing those “I’ve made it” Louboutins or why every afternoon you have a diet coke next to your keyboard at work. People buy into brands that they have a emotional connection with or that they aspire to be associated with because of the kudos it gives them.

People love a brand either because they value the ethos of the company, products or the service. Have a think about why customers would love your brand and answer the following questions:

  • what does your business stand for – your brand essence
  • what do you believe in – your defining values
  • what people do you seek to engage – your target audience(s)
  • what distinguishes you – your key differentiators
  • what you offer – your overarching experience
  • what you say and show

Building a loveable brand is all about inciting brand affinity, loyalty, building a community and a buzz around your brand. Discover below some of the ways to do this.

Create Valuable Content

Create a community by providing good content that your target audience are looking for and keep them coming back for more. Educate them about your values/mission and new products/services and also provide them with valuable that they are looking for. Work alongside your customer service teams and find out what the most FAQ’s are and provide helpful content on your website. Write insightful advice or tips on your blog and have videos on your YouTube channel surrounding content that you know your audience need and would appreciate.

Brands that blog receive 67% more leads than brands that don’t and 70% of consumers get to know brands through the content that’s produced rather than from ad’s. (Kissmetrics) It’s important to build up an online community by answering questions on your social media pages and providing valuable content on social media. 67% of twitter users buy from brands they follow. You can also position your business as a thought leader when you’re providing valuable information and being on the pulse of new developments in your industry. You can then be seen as the go to source for information.

Interact with your customers

Engage in a two way relationship with your customers - connecting, replying and sending personalised communications with them on the channels they use. Respond to emails, social media messages and letters with equal importance. If you have their personal data, send them a birthday message with a discount code or money off.

Create a buzz

Create excitement around your brand. Offer promotions, competitions and giveaways in line with your products and services. Encourage your potential customers to like and share on social media and spread the love. Create a competition around your products, do teaser campaigns and give back to your followers and customers.
